Split Apple Rock
After
Eden, our bent towards the over indulgence, the fast buck and the obsession
with all things electronic may be robbing us of our ability to enjoy the simple
pleasures of this life.
Deep
within lies the secret spirit which longs to be and do our best for others and
not just ourselves.
I
was contemplating this as I walked the golden sands on this secluded beach in
New Zealand and was thinking: who is going to put us back together?
..and who, if anyone....? |
How long will it take to fix...? |
...is able to fix it... |
Just thoughts on a golden beach............... |

THE TITANIC
The sinking of the Titanic was a catalogue of disasters and there is a message there for us all about pride.
1. The ship was going too fast, showing off to get to New York a day early.
2. Reversing the engines and turning to the side caused the collision.
3. They missed the warnings about ice more than once; too busy sending messages for rich folks.
4. They cancelled the life boat drill.
5. There were only enough lifeboats for half of the people.
6. The lifeboats left without being filled.
7. The warning flares they sent up were the wrong colour.
8. The nearest ship had finished taking messages for the night.

The Little Boy Who Lost His Football
I was very sad whilst overlooking Himley Lake photographing the birds to see a boy sobbing because his football was lost in the water and his father had no way to retrieve it.
Lost Forever! |
Some months later on yahoo news, I read the story of the boy who lost everything he owned in the Japanese Tsunami. He has now got his football back after it was washed up on the beaches in Canada.
These two stories remind me of something very important: Learn to be content with what you have. In life's disappointing times, let the tears flow but take the lesson.
It's only when you lose something that the true value of your treasure is found out!
"A young Japanese boy had a welcome surprise recently when he was reunited with a football that was lost in the disaster. Misaki Murakami wrote his name and school on it - enough for him to be located when a walker found it on a beach on Middleton Island, Canada."
"
The Football is the only thing he got back after losing everything!
Moral: It's what you do with what you've got that counts.

Diana Krall
Back in 2003 I had my first encounter with the West Coast. Subsequently I ended up in Tofino, the most idyllic place in the world on Vancouver Island, Canada.
It was there that a dear old lady, once mayor and amateur jazz singer, introduced me to Diana Krall.
Not in person but on a dvd player in her home in the woods. Live in Montreal was an introduction to a beautiful articulator of the jazz idiom.
I just love ballads anyway and it has been my joy to work on the piano transcriptions to re-create the luscious backings which interweave to bring out the melancholy of a mature ladies voice.
"Maybe You'll Be There" is a favourite of mine.
Pure joy tinged with sadness.................
